BBT’s Modern Division is designed to introduce students to a wide variety of choreographic tools, stylistic approaches and techniques, including Horton, Graham, Ailey and others. While modern dance is informed by the classical ballet tradition, dancers will learn new ways to express themselves and interpret concepts using specific movements and isolations of different parts of their bodies. Classes emphasize spatial awareness, understanding and responding rhythmically to music, incorporating a wide range of motion, and creating long, lean lines.
